ChargeUK, the voice of the UK’s EV charging industry, enters its third year with a new board in place and new members continuing to join.
ChargeUK’s third AGM took place on Wednesday April 2, hosted by recently joined members Sainsbury’s Smart Charge. Founded in April 2023 with 18 members, ChargeUK’s membership now stands at 41 organisations.
This increase since ChargeUK’s inception demonstrates the continued desire of the industry to come together to drive the UK towards its electric transport future.
The latest member to join is Zapgo, a charge point operator deploying rapid EV charging at key local destinations and underserved areas – supporting ChargeUK’s commitment to ensure nowhere in the UK is left behind in the transition to electric vehicles.
The AGM also saw ChargeUK’s new board, announced in March after an election process, take up their roles.
The organisation’s recruitment of a non-executive chair is ongoing, to be completed by this summer, with current chair, Chris Pateman Jones, CEO of Connected Kerb continuing as an interim chair in the meantime.
Vicky Read, CEO of ChargeUK said, “Our third AGM is a great time to reflect on the growth of ChargeUK and all that we’ve achieved together since our inception two years ago.
“I’d like to thank the outgoing board for their considerable support and commitment this past year and welcome our new board, who will have a key role in guiding ChargeUK as we continue mature as an organisation. I’m also looking forward to the board being joined by our first non-executive chair in the near future.
“I’d like to welcome Zapgo to ChargeUK, with every new member bringing expertise and experience to support ChargeUK in making EV charging as convenient and affordable as possible.
“With public charge points now numbering over 75,000 and the network having grown by 37% in the last year alone, ChargeUK members are ensuring deployment is ahead of demand. But now is not the time for complacency. It’s never been more important for the industry to collaborate to deliver widespread, high quality charging, as we enter this pivotal point for the transition to electric vehicles.”
